Asbestos Awareness training in Aberdeen, Dundee & Glasgow

The Control of Asbestos Regulations (2012)

With over 4000 people dying in the UK each year from asbestos, it’s vital that employees are able to both recognise materials with asbestos and avoid the corresponding risks of asbestos. It’s a legal requirement that all employers must give adequate information, instruction and training to all employees who are liable to be exposed to asbestos.

About Asbestos

Asbestos is a naturally occurring fibrous silicate mineral, or put simply, asbestos is a fluffy rock!

Every week 20 tradesmen die from asbestos-related disease. If you carry out work on a building that was built or refurbished before the year 2000, you could have been exposed to asbestos, without even knowing it.

Examples of those affected are listed below. There will be other occupations where asbestos may be disturbed in addition to those listed.

  • General maintenance workers
  • Electricians
  • Plumbers
  • Joiners
  • Painters and decorators
  • Plasterers
  • Construction workers
  • Roofers
  • Shop fitters
  • Gas fitters
  • Heating and ventilation engineers
  • Demolition workers
  • Telecommunication engineers
  • Fire/burglar alarm installers
  • Computer and data installers
  • Architects
